Inspired by a common fastener used to tie day-to-day object, the “Zipper Motorboat” by Japanese artist Yasuhiro Suzuki is an unusual boat that when moving in a lake, river or sea forms a long wake, giving the effect of a gigantic zipper extending across the water. Showcased at 2010 Setouchi International Art Festival, the zipper boat becomes a symbol of unity that connects the oceans, continents and people through an artistic yet functional object. Though we don’t have much technical info, still you can go through the video to see the zipper boat in motion after the jump.
