Twist Connect goes from a QWERTY messenger phone to MP3 player in a single twist

In an industry increasingly fixated on creating smarter apps for smartphones, Mexican cellphone manufacturer Nyx Mobile is trying to bring the fun of interacting with a phone’s body back to cellphone users. Christened the Twist Connect, the cute cellphone comes with a revolving lower half that twists to provide users a full QWERTY keyboard on one side and a set of dedicated music controls on the other.

Music controls integrated into a cellphone’s body have only been available with the dedicated music player ranges of cellphones (Sony Ericsson’s Walkman series being the most comprehensive of them all) though no manufacturer (not even our ever so ingenious manufacturers in China or Japan) have thought of offering a phone with a full QWERTY keypad as well as a full set of music controls. What makes the phone even more attractive is the fact that despite the full keypad and music control keys, it manages to remain petite and slim.

The Twist Connect is also fitted with a 2 mp camera, Nyx’s own messenger, SMS/MMS capabilities, Bluetooth, push e-mail, video capture, a whole lot of social networking widgets, FM radio and an 8GB memory card slot. The phone supports Quad Band 850-900-1800-1900 MHz and is fronted by a 2.2” LCD screen. The dual Sim phone also features a pair of stereo speakers that are revealed when the phone’s music interface is twisted to the front which definitely adds to the experience of the charming little mp3 phone.
