All those who see motorcycles as works of art rather than pieces of metal for transport, will love this one. Sometime ago, we had a contraption called the Involution that could be bolted onto a motorcycle wheel, the front wheel. The Involution, a product from Capricorn Cyclo Works was basically a planetary gear system, very similar to a mechanical watch movement. This system, made up of a number of metallic gears made up of high grade aluminium and composites used to rotate along with the motorcycle’s front wheel. As the visually stunning system didn’t have to bear any load, it never affected the motorcycle’s natural performance. That said, the entire system worked even when stones from the street managed to get stuck to it. The system, though visually so stunning it is now reduced to obscurity as it wasn’t marketed as well as it deserved. Now there is some hope though with steampunk designs making their way to almost everything around. So maybe in the future, we might get to see some chopper rider starting off an all new trend by retrofitting the planetary gear wheel onto his/her motorcycle’s front wheel.
