Stick Chair by Emmanuelle Moureaux

stick chair

Art. That’s the only sane explanation I could find for this ‘chair’.It looks beautiful as a decorative piece but I’m not sure any of my friends would feels safe placing their derrieres in one of these. The question intrigues me, that who was the ‘genius’ behind these chairs?? Why, it was none other than Emmanuelle Moureaux of Tokyo-based Emmanuelle Moureaux Architecture & Design fame.

The prototype was exclusively exhibited last month at the 100% Design Tokyo. Instead of the conventional four-legs-and-back-and-seat method she used seven rods as legs, even those were crooked, sorry, ‘oblique’, stuck them, oops, ’embedded’ them in a block of acrylic and poof! Chair!

So I’m asking, ‘Lady what were you thinking… calling it a chair?’Well’ it may not be considered a piece of furniture but it sure is a beautiful piece of modern art. Atleast.
