SPiNe City Bike is handy and virtually theft-proof
OK, so there may not a be a massively popular multi-player RPG dedicated to the menace of bicycle theft, but having your bike stolen is still enough to piss anybody off, especially since most of us living in the cities are trying very hard to get off our gas-burning set of wheels an d make the green turn. To counter the pesky problem of bike theft, designer Ronen Spector has come up with an ingenious new bicycle concept that would make it virtually impossible for nabbers to do pick the lock of your precious bike and ride away in it.
Called the SPiNe City Bike, the concept basically comes with a fool-proof security system that is incorporated within the structure of the bicycle’s frame itself. The quick to lock and easy to unlock mechanism responds only to a key and the owner does not need to carry any additional bike chains and padlock to secure their bikes in parking spaces, bike stands and even on pavements.
A ribbed spine-like structure attached to the base of the bicycle’s handlebars also forms the top tube when the bike is in use to give it stability to the frame. The same structure can be readjusted to form a tube-like lock around a pole or a bike-stand to secure the bike. This “spine” can only be opened and closed with the help of a key and any attempts to open it otherwise will damage the whole body of the bicycle and render it useless.
