Awareness about conserving resources is spreading fast and gathering momentum amongst designers and engineers. Several water-conserving modifications are being made to faucets, toilets, and sprayers, and a new class of combo water savers is emerging. I recently read about a urinal that saves water by combining flushing with hand-washing, by letting the run-off from the hand-wash fall into the urinal system as flushing water, instead of using separate water for both. Although the Spacesaver is not as green as the other combo, the modification to this would be such a simple process, whereby water from the hand-wash would flow into the machine, since hands are relatively cleaner than clothes. But it already contributes to conservation by reducing the energy and material needs for building a sink separately from a washing machine by combining the two appliances into one.
