Kitchens have long been a place where the entire family gets together every morning and evening to prepare their meals, bitch about everyone, hatch destructive plots against the neighbors and sometimes even have decent meals. And since the kitchen has gone on to occupy such a central role in all our lives, to only make sense to make it more practical and functional. With this aim in mind, Designboom held a contest to find the most functional and realistic kitchen design. the ‘Kitchen is the heart of the home’ contest attracted entries form 2980 designers from 102 different countries and the eventual winner of the do was the deign created by Chinese design of team of Cheng He, Liu Quang Kui and Zhou Dong. Though its name ‘Round cupboard assembling that can be rotated and lifted’ certainly could use some professional PR help, the concept behind it seemed quite wholesome to say the least.
With each element of the kitchen designed to allow objects to come near the user, rather than the other way around, the concept is a true time saver, while the unique cylindrical design of the concept also saves a lot of space within the living space!
