First displayed at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, the “Quant” by Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg is a sportscar that will run on solar energy. Featuring thin-film photovoltaic coating on a carbon chassis and aluminum/carbon body, for finest safety, and 3102 mm wheelbase, the solar powered sportscar will minimize running and manufacturing costs in a drastic way, thanks to the (latest) asynchronous motor technology. Generating power from an electric motor at each wheel, the sustainable car can reach 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, which can further go as high as 275 km/h. Apart from the set of solar panels on the exterior, the Quant can range of up to 500 km, courtesy the new FAES technology, with rapid charging. The Koenigsegg Quant will just weigh 1780 kg and offer optimum vehicle comfort and loading capacity for the commuters in the days to come.
