Solar Decathlon – Modular furniture for a solar powered house

solar decalthon
To make the most out of the limited spaces in urban environment, yet another designer has come up with a simple and stylish piece of work. Michael Tongel teamed up with his fellow industrial designers and created furniture for a solar powered house designed by architects from Carnegie Mellon University. The furniture was designed for the Solar Decathlon – a solar house competition in Washington D.C. This modular furniture range includes two dining room chairs, four folding chairs and a coffee table. The folding chair can be folded to a size of 18” x 16” x 4” and can be easily stored inside the coffee table that is pre-designed to fit them. Such modular furniture units look to be a neat solution for the apartments where space is at a premium.

Thanks, Michael Tongel
