Republic Square, natural living within the artificial

republic square
Erected as part of a comprehensive development around the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan, the Republic Square by Eric Owen Moss Architects is a multipurpose tower that spreading in 126,000 square feet area will house various retail, office, hotel and residential spaces. Neighboring the capitol building, the mixed-use tower is rooted to the ground by a 38-meter diameter spiral, giving space for an indoor plaza or “winter garden” connecting the two sides. The spiral, enclosing the five public venues near the ground level, keeps the structure steady. Four out of the five public venues, symbolizing the four seasons of the year, create a natural environment within the structure.
