With the summer Olympics all set to grace London with its mad, fever-pitch frenzy in a few short months, designers are hard at work trying to come up with innovative concepts that would make the experience more enthralling for visitors to the British capital. The Pod Conceptual Transport System by Luke Spillett is one such design that explores the possibility of making mass transport as easy to access and people friendly as possible to handle the influx of visitors at such a large scale.

Currently in concept stage, the design comprises of a structure that is built to be compatible to the environment and looks to create an emotional bond with people who use it to travel. The inspiration for the design of the Pod comes from the movement of air and the energy created via this movement. The poetic flow of air thus becomes synonymous with the flow of people who use the transport system in the daily lives.
The Pods move inside the spiraling tracks via magnetic levitation. Since the Pods are not physically attached to the tracks, they require the minimum amount of electrical current to provide propulsion and allow the mass transport system to stay low on environmental impact. Thanks to a gyro system, the Pod stays upright even it is moving around the underside of the spiraling track. This graceful floating motion allows people to get unprecedented views of the city of London and enjoy the mundane daily commute.
