The university of Graz gets a brand new music theater called the Graz Theater whose design enthralls anybody who visits this theater. This theater has two entrances, one for the performers and the other for it’s patrons. Once you are inside, you get transported into a world of springs. Yes! The main stage itself is in the form of a spring which creates a feeling of immense space and gives the entire theater an surreal ambiance. Moving to the top of the curved foyer, you find an auditorium that can fit in 350 people in absolute comfort. The other design element is the so-called blob-to-box model, which creates a number of smaller spring like structures.

These structures open out into a plethora of transition zones which enable performers and viewers to move seamlessly between different arenas. This entire mesh like structure encompasses a cafeteria, audio rooms and dressing rooms. All these, being additions to a central room. So, the next time you happen to be anywhere near Austria, you certainly would want to take some time off and check this modern marvel of glass and metal, which unlike other buildings, manages to keep it’s soul alive. Last but certainly not the least, the designers responsible for this magnificent structure are Ben Van Borkel and Caroline Bos. Check out more images in picture gallery after jump.
