Designed for the Miguel Hernandez University campus in Alicante (Spain), the “Media Island” by Moho Architects is a Wi-Fi pavilion that, other than offering a singular meeting spot to chill out and relax, also gives public internet access to the university students. Standing for a virtual interface, the pavilion is divided into five different spaces surrounding a central courtyard, in a unique star shaped structure, which harnessing sustainable source of energy ensures optimum use of natural lighting and ventilation. The island can be raised 1.5 meters above from the ground with the help of a white gravel landscape, standing it apart from the rest of the structures on the campus.
