The “Logistic City” by Julien de Smedt Architects is a self-sustaining tower that houses a whole city within, fulfilling all the needs of residents. Designed for the city of Shenzhen, China, the architecture is essentially a huge vertical forest that provides lush green areas amid the thick jungle of concrete. Accommodating a number of shops, offices and houses, accessed by ascending and descending paths wrapped with lush plant life, the building stands tall at 1,111 meters that also includes wind turbines and roller coaster-like trams. Featuring wide-open areas to make the most of wind power and natural light and ventilation, the Logistic City will possibly use PVs to harness solar power to fulfill its energy needs. To keep the vertical garden live and green, the building also includes a water storing and recycling system at the top to utilize the rainwater.
