Combining a traditional desk lamp and a planter, Canadian designer Mikhail St-Denis has come up with a hybrid lamp that equips the latest technology while employing environmentally conscious methods of design. The “iLoveLamp,” as the designer hails his device, capitalizes on its power source and technology to create new possibilities. Available two body finishes, i.e. glossy white and Bamboo, the eco-friendly lamp uses USB 2.0 as a power source, which can also be used to transfer data.

Featuring a built-in microchip that other than tracking the power consumption also detects the water and soil needs of your plant, the iLoveLamp lets the users stay connected on social networking sites for tips and sharing their experiences, thanks to the computer connectivity. In case your plant is low on water, it lets you know via your favorite digital method, such as SMS, Twitter, email or even Facebook. In short, the hybrid device is both a lamp and a mini air purifier that keeps your desk fresh and lively all the time.
