Home Pets: Living-room animals store your books and mags

That’s Design! is an exhibition of the most important design schools worldwide and independent designers during the Milan design week. One of the highlights of the event is the “Home Pets” by Metodot. Home Pets include a dog (Bau) and a cat (Miao). The names are onomatopoeic Italian words. These living-room animals are ethereal characters able to touch the heart. The curves of the body have been conceived to store books and magazines. The “Home Pets” units were born as a part of the endeavor to provide modern spaces a playful but precious element. Each animal is made of two transparent methacrylate slabs with a fluorescent effect on the border. These slabs are kept intact by two metal joints. Home Pets are not just pets; they have been designed to optimize the use of materials and allow a correct disassembly of materials at the end of life.
