Modular furniture in social spaces seems quite a wonderful idea in itself. Combined with a minimalist, simple and charming design, the item in question becomes an automatic winner. h2o bench by h2o architectes is designed for urban spaces, in particular for the main square of Valenciennes, a town in the north of France. Made of Ductal fiber concrete the h2o bench introduces various combinations in public spaces. h2o is more than just a bench and can be as readily transformed into a stool or a chair with a curved back. Working on the themes of: minimal form, non-orientation, sculptural quality, flexibility and additive qualities h2o architectes have delivered something that stays true to nearly all of them in varying degrees. The function would dictate the combination of various modules for h2o bench and in turn the form it would take. Intriguing and inviting, the h2o bench would certainly bring a lot of individuality to the open spaces.
