Despite the fact that millions of people around the world are undernourished and often do not know where their next meal will come from, food is being squandered incessantly in well-off nations. Providing a solution to the problem, South Korean designer Sang hoon Lee has devised a waste disposer that dumps the food waste to nourish your home grown herbs and vegetables for consumption. Called the “Green Cycler,” the food composter cum planter, designed for the year 2020, not only helps the users recycle their waste food but also keeps the surroundings clean and green. Users may simply dispose the food waste into the cycler where decomposed food waste becomes fertilizer for the plant, which is transported with water from the bottom to the top through an integrated air system. A light indication tells about the plant’s growing status, for when the light reaches the bottom, vegetable is ready for consumption.
