This is a streetlight installed near the Panasonic Centre in Tokyo. But the cool swirly design betrays a hidden talent – the streetlight is actually powered by solar-and-wind energy. The whole streetlight acts as a rechargeable light with the metal lace in the middle of the column and solar panels on top feed its replenishable batteries that are stored in the column’s base. The Seagulls – as the designer streetlight is called – is a great green electricity option and a soothing sight in the urban landscape.
