Freescale, the leading manufacturer of microcontrollers, microprocessors and semiconductors is back with yet another ingenious idea for the tablet of the future. The new Freescale tablet concept is all about multimedia and professional audio features. It will have a number of modular docking stations into which it could snap for specialized connectivity. Targeting the college-age students “into art and music”, the unnamed tablet comes in two variants. The “Home Bar” version features HDMI, composite, VGA and component connections, plus Ethernet and USB, while the “Pro Custom Audio Bar” version offers XLR, MIDI and S/PDIF connectivity, for integrating the tablet with an existing synth, turntable or DJ system. The connections are not in the tablet itself, but in the dock, so you can detach the tablet from it and use it like any other device.
