I have never met a woman who could ever persuade her husband/boyfriend/father/son/brother or basically any man in her life to get his bum off the couch and get some shopping done on a Saturday afternoon. Or any day of the week for that matter. But folks over at Suzuki, with decades of car-building experience behind them, raked up their brains and came up with a solution that could end the war of the sexes for good. Introducing the too-good-to-true Motorized Electric Sofa Couch by Suzuki. The EV was created specifically for the Kizashi Kicks campaign to illustrate that their new Kizashi is better than an Audi A4 and if the test takes place on a proper track, can also outdo a sofa on wheels.

Its origin may be gimmicky but the EV Couch Car is the company’s first-ever electric vehicle and that’s an honor it should be proud of. The Couch Car is based upon an existing platform although it is definitely not very recognizable under the large, rugged, somewhat soiled and tattered sofa and the equally large and rugged and tattered sofa table that houses the necessary gadgetry required to run the car.
The EV runs on a 48-volt Club Car motor that juices up on eight, 6W deep cycle batts hidden underneath the ugly upholstery of the 80-inch x 36.5-inch sofa that is strutted atop a sizable chassis with a wheelbase of around 25 inches. The all-wheel-drive uses a one-disc hydraulic brake mounted on the rear axle, possibly because having extra brakes might cause the driver and passenger to be expelled from their seat and flat on their faces on the road in front of them (although there are lap belts to prevent that from happening but who would want to use that on a ride as comfortable as this!)
The vintage couch is comfortable for three persons including a driver, with plush cushioning making up for the lack of suspensions. An IKEA coffee table makes up the dashboard and can also be used as an ottoman to make the ride even more comfortable. With no other safety gear or weatherproofing equipment, the drive is definitely not for the faint hearted, but it certainly beats having to leave the sofa to go for grocery shopping!
