Inspired no doubt by the sleek and mesmeric form of the deadly sting ray, the Xi Luxury Yacht Concept by Aguila Design is one of those machines that redefine what the higher end of rest & recreation vehicles look like. The Chinese meaning of the name Xi is widely interpreted as a masculine word for sunrise. The luxury watercraft can just as well be the guide of a new generation in hydrocraft design.

The dramatic yacht uses both aero and hydrodynamic principles extensively to achieve maximum craft stability in the water without compromising on the machine’s ability to deliver optimum sports-quality performance and top-notch navigational abilities. The craft is designed primarily as an alternative to the regular, bulky luxury sports yacht and uses its dramatic contours to please both aesthetically while thrilling the driver and passengers with its high-speed performance.
The crisp contours of Xi allow the craft to almost hydroplane over the water surface which lets it gather maximum momentum and speed without having to house a heavier, more powerful engine than is really necessary. Since the bulk of the performance is achieved via aerodynamics and hydrodynamics, the twin air propellers on the craft are able to manipulate gravity to further boost its speed. The Xi also features pivoting hydrofoil tips that allow the craft to fold its foils up to park into restricted spaces in the harbor.
The interior space of the yacht also reflects the quick-paced, high-luxury lifestyle of its intended inhabitants. With automated transformable spaces dominating the interior landscape, the Xi is furnished with extremely rich materials and top-of-the-line contemporary furniture that allows the space to be converted into a serene sanctum as well as party-centric water craft.
With enough space to house the owners, guests and the crew in comfort and style, the Xi also comes packed with all the latest gadgetry to ensure top-quality performance and ambiance. When folded, the glass cockpit show a solarium that comes fitted with an elegant exterior that is fully transformable with resting places, partly sheltered chairs and a full bar. Both sides of the cockpit are illuminated with two strategically-spaced gleaming headlamps while the stabilizing fin of the wings houses the highly styled vertical rear lamp.
The lower part of the right and left wings houses a sliding entrance and reveals two smaller crafts called “Shark” that can be attached to the Xi to give it an added dimension of functionality.
