The living room is the only room where you spend your entire time. Either for social gathering or for evening snacks, or when you have guest pouring in, living room is the place that you organize the gathering.

Feng shui advocates certain principles that need to be followed if you want serene ambience to engulf you all the time.

You install a fireplace that will be the focal point of the room rather than flaunting some hi-tech electronic gadgets. This will give the effect of a warm welcome and not more mechanical feel.

Metals and water are two elements that give rise to a feeling of domination. It is advisable that they are not placed together.

The shape of the room if slightly square or rectangular gives the best effect. The furniture of the rooms should not be placed directly between the door and the window as it blocks the air flow and leads to stagnancy which is very harmful. Place a plant in the far end of the room so that the area looks livelier if the room is not rectangular in shape.

Screens and partitions should be frequently used that will help in the flow of the positive energy.

Lastly but not the least, if a fish tank is placed in the room it is believed to bring good luck, monetary gains, peace and harmony.
