Having weak vision myself, I can well imagine the complexities of life for the visually impaired. Working out a solution, Swedish designer Erik Rydell is out there with a concept device that enlarges the figures at its display to elucidate text or an image for the visually impaired. Presenting a traditional design, the electronic device features speech synthesis to decode text to voice streams, together with a digital camera to magnify figures, in case the speech synthesis stops working. The Elucimate also includes a bendable OLED display that supports non-photosensitive images, fast speech synthesis and a digital camera module. In short, the digital device can be a true mate for the visually impaired on the move.
