Anders Lilleby, Norway-based designer, has developed an iPad dock that enables the user to play with the device with their body as the controller. Though a late entrant in the existing market of iPad docks, it still scores with increased interactivity feature.
The docking station utilizes the principles of Novelda’s radar chip applied for sensory devices. The design is plain and elongated with the front bearing the clips to hold Ipad in place. The clips can be moved to hold the Ipad at varied angles to suit your view –landscape or portrait. The dock makes the device more interactive by making the user’s body as controller through electro- magnetic waves.
On a comparative note, apart from interactivity the docking station sports no other additional function. Other docking stations like Cinemin Slice come with an ability to produce a larger image on to a clear surface. Also, Cinemin Slice comes fitted with six watt speakers and incorporates input for earphones, AV ports and infrared remote. Nevertheless, judged against Apple iPad dock, Beam scores a little higher. Kudos to the interactivity feature! The Apple iPad dock is smaller in size and just sports a charging point for the iPad. However, when it comes to prices the comparison fades out!
