Carry-na mobility aid doubles as portable chair

Winner of the Good Design Award competition organized by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization, the “Carry-na” is essentially a mobility aid to make walking easier, especially for older and physically challenged people, which doubles a portable chair, in case users want to take a short rest in between. Featuring a wheel lock, handbrakes and an adjustable-height handle, the walking aid is very light in weight (3 pounds) and can sustain up to 175 pounds in any of its (various) arrangements. Composed of two major components, a handle and a pair of legs with wheels, the Carry-na presents dual brake levers for control and simple locking clips for stability and a flexible handle that mounts and drops to the height of different users. The handle of the walker folds up vertically (to become the backrest) and a seat flips down, with a press of the foot pedal, to place the user, while another press on the foot pedal folds the legs vertically for easy storage as well as transportation. Just amazing. Check out the video to see the mobility aid in motion after the jump.
