Bicycle Lock Dock, a smart locking system for bikes to prevent theft

Bike thefts are very common and most cycles are prone to damage while they are parked outside. This is mainly because most of the parking or locking stations for bikes are not secure enough. Bicycles parked out in the open are usually susceptible to burglary. The crime slaps damages worth a staggering $1 billion annually in United States. So, looking for a viable solution is definitely a concern. Also, the lack of safe parking amenities deters people from using bikes more often.

But, what if you could park your bike anywhere outdoors and lock it away safely. This will actually be possible with the all new Bike Lock Docks. Not only does this locking system protect your bike, but it is also not bound to a single spot. This means that you can use it practically anywhere you take your bike. Now, ride your cycle to any place you want without worrying about it being stolen.

The smart gadget comprises a conical light from which tentacles emanate out. It has many useful features. Its LED lights provide luminosity while you are docking it. So, you can easily park it in remote locations and dimly lit spots. Also, the clever intuitive rack design allows you to park the bike in multiple locations. The savvy gadget is a result of a project by master’s students from UC Berkeley.

The smart locking system does away with yet another hindrance that comes in way of increase in bike usage. It is because of reasons like these that number of bike users do not multiply sufficiently even though cycles are really eco friendly and easy on the pocket. Hopefully, such secure systems will encourage the pursuit of bike riding in the future. Increase in bike usage means that there will be fewer cars on the road and this trend will be really beneficial for the environment.
