With concrete jungles replacing the natural life in the urban landscape, locating a tree or natural shade to escape the scorching heat becomes as difficult as finding water in a desert. Conceived by South Korean designer BonSeop, Ku, the “Bench” is an innovative solution that provides shelter or shade to the passersby, as if natural, soft beam of sunlight passes through the leaves of a natural tree. Ideal for windy places, the artificial shade features a flower-like stamen that works like a wind power turbine and produces green electricity to illuminate it in the dark. Though the hexagon shield, which looks like a morning glory, can be installed in individual or combination, the combination of different benches makes an image of a flower garden.
