Designed as part of Olympic Games in 2012, the “ArcelorMittal Orbit” by Anish Kapoor is a 115m high public artwork at Olympic Park in London. Developed in collaboration with structural engineer Cecil Balmond of Arup, the new public attraction in the Olympic Park will become the UK’s largest sculpture, attracting participants as well as visitors from all across the world during the mega sporting event. Consisting of a continuous looping lattice of tubular steel, the £19.1million project will stand tall at 115m, which is 22m taller than the Statue of Liberty in New York, to provide a mesmerizing view of the Olympic Park spread in 250 acres and London’s skyline from a special viewing platform. The ArcelorMittal Orbit will also feature a big lift and a spiraling staircase to move the visitors to the platform.
