A User-Friendly Bathroom Concept by Simon R. Pestridge

Concept Bathroom Design

This design for a concept shower is basically aimed at everyone who has ever struggled with getting their feet cleaned in a small shower space. Conceptualized by Simon R. Pestridge, the design was created in 3DS max and envisions an external seating area attached to the main shower.

Most urban apartments are cramped for space and the bathrooms in most of these setups are even smaller. With small bathrooms and confined showering spaces, it becomes really difficult for most users to clean their feet without holding onto something sturdy. Most bathrooms are just not equipped with additional handrails that can adequately support an adult. To tackle this problem, the designer has come up with a novel solution that modifies the structure of the traditional shower to include a separate space designed specifically to facilitate cleaning of the feet and legs.

With this design, the user can sit comfortably on a specially-created external space and clean their feet using an external shower head attached to the main unit. The whole unit is set up on a base upon a lower drainage area which allows the user to dry off after showering without getting any water on the bathroom floor.

Extractor fans built into the design provide ventilation by eliminating steam and humidity from the shower area, leaving the air inside steam-free while users step out to the external area and sit down to cleanse their feet and legs. The separated area would also facilitate easy grooming for women who will find it more comfortable to shave their legs or wax, clip their nails or do a pedicure and then use the external shower head to finally rinse off.

Additional features in the design include handy towel racks above the seating area and a glass division around the seating area that would stop water sprays from spilling over onto the bathroom floor when the external foot shower head is in use.
