When I looked at this building for the first time (in pictures of course), I thought they were coffee cups which acted as a porch for each of the floors in the building. But then I realized that this was a building in Tokyo. Now surly if it is Tokyo, it has to be tea and not coffee cups, right? So that is exactly why we will call them tea cup Porches (Though calling them coffee cups somehow just sounds much better). Anyway, irrespective of what you might want to pour in to these giant cups and drink, one must confess that this is hell of a fun idea.
Who ever constructed this building must have loved their early morning cup of beverage very dearly. They loved it so much that they decided to make it large and eye-catching. The building is not specifically beautifully done and the cups actually look a bit ungainly when looked at along with the whole building. But one can hardly hold that against those who came up with the idea. The giant cups make up for all the flaws.
The cups do look like they are out of some fairytale story or comic strip. Maybe they are more akin to structures in Disney Land. Now one big problem is what happens when it does rain a lot. Well, I guess they then have a well made swimming pool. But then I’m sure the cups have a little leak somewhere to allow any stagnant water to flow through. Then what if a ball hit out of the nearest park by a bunch of kids happens to fall in to it? Getting it might mean taking a plunge into the cup. The idea is good and it might encourage more people to put objects of their liking or choice as part of buildings.
