So many interior designers and interior designing firms have entered the market to help us create that interior of our homes that look straight out of our dreams. Here we bring to you 10 unique and creative ideas for interior design of your living room.
1. Living room decorating ideas that save you money
If you want to decorate your living area without spending large on it then try rearranging your old furniture, introduce a couple of new elements in the room, modify your old furniture a little and get a brand new look.
If your old furniture are in usable condition then you can just change the covers or paint them in a new color and make them look as good as new. Throw a rug under the coffee table, add some lovely cushions on the sofa, place a large vase in the living room, shift the furniture to a new place and your living room gets a new look.
Small living rooms should have one seating arrangement at the middle of the room while large rooms should have more than one seating areas.
2. Traditional living room decorating idea
Some people feel at home only when the interior setting is traditional. The retro look is still the preferred idea for many when it comes to living room decoration. To create that retro look you have to keep in mind certain factors that are quite dominant in traditional interior decoration. Curtains that are larger than the window in colors matching with the color of the entire room is one of the biggest essential of a traditional interior. Furniture that should be present in a retro styled living room include a big seating arrangement surrounded by chairs, a wooden table, a television set and a wooden closet. A strong hued (but not too bold) carpet placed under the wooden table would give the finishing touch to the traditional design.
3. The open box house by A-cero
Simple yet beautiful design is the keyword here. Place a coffee table between two sofas facing each other. A few bookcases on the wall and a fireplace in the side of the room add a warmth to the decoration and the room. In absence of a fireplace the coffee table becomes the center point around which you should arrange your furniture. If your living room presents a beautiful view outside your home, then take full advantage of that by facing your seating arrangement towards the large window overseeing the landscape.
4. Idea by Alexandra from destination perfected
The decoration style of this designer is a mix of the 1930’s influence and the beach style. So designing your living room according to his style would mean punching in some costly and ageless things along with some inexpensive stuff to accessorize the room. The main components of this style of living room decoration means a high backed white colored sofa with pillows, a classic turquoise fish scarf, a sea-foam green colored Persian rug and a couple of beautiful paintings. Along with these use lots of velvety turquoise throw pillows, a glass, two white armchairs, a coffee table of mirror & croc leather with silver camel feet, two coral lamps, various vases and porcelain (including turquoise vases) and 2 mirrored side tables.
5. Ideas by Sharon and Ozzy Osboursne at home
The decoration toys with the idea of a comfortable country-house feel. The design is rich yet laid back. The flooring is wooden, there are Victorian-era barn doors, french antiques along with painted -silk wall coverings. The living room showcases some antique Italian dolls and puppets. The main factor in this style of decoration is the indulgence of wood as every prime factor in the entire house is made of wood.
6. Accent color
Using a warm color to highlight or draw attention to some particular areas of your living room. This will evade the coldness of the room decoration and introduce the much required warmth in the room decor. A bright or dark color like red, orange or brown is just perfect for such purpose. Use these colors in cushions, vases, rugs, paintings or to paint one wall in your living room.
7. Add a throw
Give your room that cozy feeling by placing a “throw”, which is basically a beautifully crafted or decorated shawl like item used to drape a sofa.
8. Choose wood
Use less of steel, glass or other material and include more of wood while decorating your living room. Use wood for flooring, furniture, or any other purpose as you may find suitable. Wood adds a warmth to a place and makes it look inviting.
9. Incorporate classical elements
Including classical elements in a modern living room design makes the place look more attractive and classy. So add classical elements like a crystal chandelier, an old trunk that can be used as a side-table, etc.
Windows should allow light to flood in but keep the dust and rain away. UPVC French windows are perfect for this purpose as they let light come in but are monsoon and dust proof.
